cyber threats your company may be exposed to

One of the biggest challenges of remote work is the risk of cyber attack. After all, before performed by few companies, the home office became mandatory for most companies, after the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. In Brazil, according to a study by the Fundação Instituto de Administração (FIA), 46% of them adopted this system to continue their activity .

However, while large companies managed to adapt easily, often because this system was already in place, small and medium-sized companies had problems. According to Kaspersky’s home office study, 44% of employees at smaller companies have not received security instructions to work from home with personal devices.

This generates an alert when we think that this modality is still present and the numbers already show that the path that will be followed, even after the total vaccination, is the hybrid (in person and remote). According to the MIT Technology Review Brasil, in a study with 1,400 respondents, 93.5% wish to have their home office at least one day a week.

Brazil had growth of brute force attacks

This sudden change generated, in April 2020, a spike in cyber attacks on remote access systems in Brazil. Kaspersky’s survey revealed that, at the beginning of the remote system, the country had a 333% growth in two months , from 402 thousand in February to more than 1.7 million.

This increase was due to several factors, such as the lack of additional training for employees, secure gateways in applications in the cloud or data center, failure to implement endpoint security for notebooks and cell phones, or failure to implement security for navigation.

This, coupled with uncertainties due to the pandemic and the economy, led hackers to further explore security risks in the home office , using phishing, ransomware and malware. Another Kaspersky data reports that more than 360,000 digital threats were created daily in 2020 .

How digital solutions can bring security to remote work As we said earlier, even with the vaccine, the future must be hybrid work. That is why it is essential to start security planning, on all devices, aiming at the current moment and, of course, the coming years.
